Why We Raised: Solving the Hidden Complexity of Physician Compensation

When Dr. Sanjaya Kumar and I started TimeSmart.AI, we kept hearing the same story from hospital executives, contract and compliance specialists, and physician leaders:

Physician time tracking and compensation sits at the most critical intersection of a healthcare organization: legal, finance, compliance, and clinical operations. Yet, almost universally, we found this operational pillar was being held together by disparate spreadsheets, legacy internal builds, and manual processes.

The result wasn’t just an administrative headache. It was a massive compliance risk, a drain on financial predictability, and a major driver of burnout for clinical leaders who just wanted to focus on patient care.

So we built TimeSmart to help bring order to that chaos. We wanted to design a platform that actually understood the nuanced realities of unique physician contracts, Stark Law, AKS, and specialty-specific clinician compensation rules.

I am really proud to announce that we have secured a strategic investment round led by Graphite Ventures, alongside MaRS IAF, Velocity, Archangel Network of Funds, and a phenomenal group of strategic angel investors.

But for us, raising capital was never the milestone; it is the fuel.

This investment is a direct validation of the trust our customers have placed in us. From independent physician groups to some of the largest and most well-recognized healthcare networks in the USA, operational leaders have recognized that the status quo of manual contract management is no longer sustainable.

So, what does this mean for our customers? It means we are accelerating. We are deploying this capital directly into our product roadmap. Our plan is to deepen our proprietary AI-driven compliance checks, expand our seamless integrations with existing healthcare infrastructure, and continue to scale our customer success teams to ensure every implementation goes as smoothly as possible.
